Liz Pomerleau
Professional Coach, Chaplain and Educator

Hi, I’m Liz.

A skilled listener, I’ve spent my adult life investing in solid education, relational health, spiritual authenticity, and helping people (including myself!) to grow. I offer professional coaching and education to people who devote themselves to caring for others.

I know what it feels like when the fog settles in. For 15 years, I walked the long winding path of Alzheimer's (early onset) with my mother-in-law. I’ve lived the reality of losing and finding myself as a family caregiver. I’ve wrestled with the impossible balance of a demanding professional life caring for others (Chaplain, Educator, Director) and a full life caring for myself, my children, and family.

My Vocation: a sanctuary for the Helpers

I’ve spent my career in spaces where life is most intense. My background is unique because it combines the clinical, the spiritual and the developmental.

  • As a Board Certified Chaplain: I’ve stood in hospital corridors and hospice rooms since 2010. I’ve learned how to listen for the best of people when they are facing their worst days. I provide the Sanctuary.

  • As a Professional Coach: I believe coaching is both compass and architecture. I help you find your path and build a structure for your life that will support the weight you carry. I help you draft your Blueprint.

  • As a Spiritual Care Educator: I train leaders to navigate the complexities of illness and aging with compassion. I understand grieving, growing and resilience, but more importantly, I knowhow to make it practical in your life.

Why work with me?

You are here because you are devoted to your family or your vocation, but you are tired of losing yourself in the process.

I understand the ‘hardest things.’ I’m not afraid of the grief, the anger, or the exhaustion that comes with long-term devotion to others. Whether you are navigating professional development, an immediate health crisis or the marathon of chronic illness, I am here to ensure that when the storm passes, there is still a recognizable “you” left to enjoy the view.

My Credentials:

Beyond the work

When I’m not coaching or teaching, you’ll find me on a bike ride in the sunshine, navigating the ‘wild ride’ of life with my husband Dan and our three young daughters, or finding quiet moments with nature restoring my spirit.

I’m here to help you care for yourself while you devote yourself to others. Don’t lose track of your own spirit! A life with a bit of joy is still possible while serving others.

you know you are in the right place if …

  • You are devoted to your work, but don’t want to lose yourself in the endless demands of caring.

  • You want this chapter of your life to include moments for yourself. Moments of calm, of peace, and space to breathe.

  • You want to be a compassionate leader for yourself, your people, your team, and your family.

I understand ...

  • I was a caregiver for 15 years, both in my home and from afar. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done (and I’m not afraid of hard things).

  • I’ve worked with countless religious leaders, patients, families, older adults, senior living executives and healthcare leaders.

  • I teach leaders how to build connected, resilient and positive relationships. It takes a unique skill set and can be learned.

  • I’ve taught about spiritual resilience, self-compassion and a greater capacity for love amidst loss for over a decade

  • I’ve worked with hundreds of individuals towards growth in emotional intelligence and spiritual grounding

  • I’ve cared for caregivers in senior living, hospice and hospital settings.

it can get better …

I’d love to meet you, learn about your unique situation, and discern how I might be of service to you. Please schedule a free consultation for us to get to know one another.

about my philosophy on coaching, chaplaincy and education:

Coaching is architecture: to help you build the future you envision

(whereas Therapy is archeology to support healing with diagnosis and treatment. Liz is not a therapist)

Chaplaincy is sanctuary: Finding the sacred on the journey

Education is the blueprint for growth: using theory to inform best practice

Liz is a purposeful and powerful listener

  • As a Professional Coach (in process with ICF), Liz supports clients to be self-trusting, authentic leaders who care.

  • As a Chaplain (board certified with  APC ), Liz listens for the best of people in the hardest of times in hospice, senior living, long term care, and hospital settings.

  • As an Educator (ACPE), Liz trains diverse religious leaders to offer compassionate spiritual care with people who are aging or ill.

Relational dynamics can be messy, complex and challenging. Liz is committed to helping you communicate clearly and lovingly in order to find confidence in your authority and authenticity in your devotion to care.

what is coaching?

Coaching is architecture. It is future focused, action oriented, pulling dreams into reality. The ICF defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” Coaching helps you tap into your innate wisdom in order to build a life that will support and shelter you through challenge and transition. Liz is a professional coach and is in process of credentialing with the International Coaching Federation.

(Therapy is archeology, looking to your past to offer clinical diagnosis and treatments. Liz is not a therapist.)

what is chaplaincy?

Chaplaincy is sanctuary. As a chaplain, Liz welcomes spirituality into the healthcare journey. Association of Professional Chaplains defines chaplaincy as “a professional role that provides spiritual, emotional, existential, and religious support to individuals and communities in a variety of settings.” Spiritual care holds space to explore the deeper meaning and purpose in work and life. It supports people through the messy process of grief, anger, and fear towards a life of joy and gratitude. Liz is a professional chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains.

what is Education?

Education is the blueprint for growth. Education builds upon all the gifts and knowledge a person brings to the work of caring, and adds new growth, concepts, theories, best practices, and possibilities. As an ACPE Educator, I practice the clinical method of learning, which requires action, reflection, and new action in an ongoing cycle of improvement. Educators see the ever-present possibility of growth in each person. Liz is a Certified Educator with the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education.
